About this listen

Suicide is the single biggest killer of men aged 20-45 in the UK. Depression and undiagnosed mental illness are huge contributors to these deaths, as they're often more difficult to diagnose in men. And those men don't tend to talk about the typical symptoms or visit their doctors.

Meet Tim. For nearly a decade he kept his depression secret; it made him feel so weak and shameful, he thought it would destroy his whole life if anyone found out. And Tim is not alone. After finally opening up, he realised that mental illness was affecting many men around the globe - and he knew that wasn't okay.

A brutally honest, wickedly warming and heartbreaking tale about what it really takes to be a 'real man', written by one who decided that he wanted to change the world by no longer being silent. This is Tim's story, but it could be yours, too.

excellent delivery, I felt the narrator was talking about my own Life and experiences. Definitely worth reading for those who are yet to explore their personal experiences and for the allies who would gain so much insight into the complex nature of the condition. being good isn't good enough! life has more to offer than settling for good. well done to the authors.

it's comforting and encouraging2 see Ur not alone

Amazing book.
Stigma is a key influence to male suicide. it is nice to find a male author that not only talks about mental health openly, but on a more relatable bases than most.
Many times throughout the book I was questioning if this was based upon my own experiences and for that alone I thank the author.

amazingly relatable

If you already know a fair bit, you won't learn much, but the story is compelling and it is refreshing to hear someone being so honest.

Good entry level book about depression.

Thanks Tim! I can relate to many parts of this book. A 46 year old struggling through life, since the age of 9.
I always used to think it was just me, or one of those days.
It's a very good read.

Good to be reminded you're not alone. Now I just need to find a performing arts girlfriend so I can start getting better.

my husband has been going through some bad times and I thought we could listen together, we're grabbing at anything that may help us understand what's going on with him. Although he didn't listen to it all , I did and it give me an insight into someone's mind, some understanding and perspective. There's hope yet 🙏

Reassuring
