About this listen
To those who matter in 1950s Hollywood, Lena Scott is the hottest rising star to hit the silver screen since Marilyn Monroe. Few know her real name is Abra. Even fewer know the price she' s paid to finally feel like she' s somebody. To Pastor Ezekiel Freeman, Abra will always be the little girl who stole his heart the night he found her, a wailing newborn abandoned under a bridge on the outskirts of Haven.
Zeke and his son, Joshua - Abra' s closest friend - watch her grow into an exotic beauty. But Zeke knows the circumstances surrounding her birth etched scars deep in her heart, scars that leave her vulnerable to a fast-talking bad boy who proclaims his love and lures her to Tinseltown. Hollywood feels like a million miles from Haven, and naive Abra quickly learns what' s expected of an ambitious girl with stars in her eyes.
But fame comes at an awful price. She has burned every bridge to get exactly what she thought she wanted. Now, all she wants is a way back home. In this riveting and highly anticipated tale of temptation, grace, and unconditional love, New York Times best-selling author Francine Rivers delivers big-canvas storytelling at its very best.

Interesting.
A gripping and memorable story. There were a lot of chapters where the path of the main character goes downhill which was rather saddening and kept me feeling tense. I expected the twist and turn to the positive uphill (phew! at last!) and the waiting spoke of how to be in the uncertain times.

Enthralling tale of love and forgiveness
This story reminds me of how much I am forgiven daily and how much I am loved by God. I would recommend to everyone.

Woah!
Intense and painful but Absolutely Amazing!
At first I honestly thought it was gonna be a small town romance with the main character having to work on her faith throughout the whole story, but instead its a worldly, glitz and glam Hollywood behind the scenes while God is working on her and testing those who love her.
It explains that often the hardest thing to do is not to trust God with your life, but to trust Him to break those we love so that He can work in them.
I personally loved the sneak peek of what 1950s Hollywood 'Stars' had to go through to become what they were, that not all of them even enjoyed acting, and how many changed their names.
There was a lot of sensory detail in the intimacy scenes, which I understand since the difference between being used or wanted vs being loved had to be explained, but it was a bit much for me.
Other than that, I loved every part of it. Even the descriptive parts of the side characters' day to day interactions and experiences. The writer connected them all so perfectly that I didn't want to skip them.
My favorote characters were probably Mitzi( the no nonsense but passionate grandmother figure) and Murray, the Star's hairstylist who is more real than his clients.
Overall such a great story and so many morals along the way(

Amazing story
You will not read this book without getting moved by its amazing story and writings. You will be attached to the book instantaneous. If you want to read a well written book and want to sink in to a phenomenal story, Abra, Josua and pastor Zeak will have you set the coming days. It's an amazing book. Especially I would recommend every girl to read this book with a humble and open heart. Stay watchful, you might get changed eternally.

Some things never get old
The story of the redemptive love of God is timeless. Though quite a long story, the characters and narration helped the story come alive, couldn’t stop listening in the latter half and didn’t see the last plot twist coming! We are called to pray without ceasing, loved the emphasis on what we can always do for our loved ones.

I will read whatever Aunty (I don't know her personally) writes!
What a read. Aunty Francine writes godly men like a dream. They make you wonder what Jesus was like on earth. You could never misunderstand humanity and redemption. Un-put-downable.
