Summary
Searing action and passion ignite the latest KGI novel from the New York Times best-selling author of Darkest Before Dawn.
The Kelly Group International (KGI): A super-elite, top secret family run business.
Qualifications: High intelligence, rock-hard body, military background.
Mission: Hostage/kidnap victim recovery. Intelligence gathering.
Handling jobs the US government can't.
As the last unattached member of the Kelly clan, Joe is more than ready to risk life and limb on any mission he's assigned to, but when it comes to love, he'll keep his distance. He's content to watch his brothers become thoroughly domesticated.
Zoe's had nothing but heartbreak in her life, and she's determined to start over with a completely new identity thanks to her college friend Rusty Kelly. But it's the gorgeous smile and tender words of Joe Kelly that begin to weaken her resolve to never risk her heart again. And Joe will have to put everything on the line to save Zoe when secrets of her past resurface - and threaten to tear them apart.

the last Kelly man falls
Any additional comments?
This is what I would call a pivotal book for a few reasons. First Rusty is front and centre as the Kelly giving aid, she manages to out geek Donavan, and shows how she has matured since The Darkest Hour. Next it sets up events for what will be, after 2 more books, the last KGI book - Rusty's story, things have moved on from being an immature crush to having more adult feeling. Sean manages to blow it big time leaving Rusty with no reason to stay anymore but she does come back for a wedding, and it is at that wedding that the Kelly men realise that Sean & Rusty have a thing for each other, (took them long enough).
Joe is the Kelly man to fall this time and after being somewhat resistant initially he falls hard and fast after just 2 dates. Its nice to see how he knows something is amiss so handles Zoe with gentlemanly care and allows her to some degree to set the pace. When Zoe goes missing Joe like the rest of KGI goes all out to find his woman and bring her home safe.
Since this story happens in and around the compound, there are lots of updates on other Kelly's as well as on some of the team members. For anyone who has read Steele's story then here again you get to see his softer side and it is ROFL when he tells KGI Maren expecting again. Then later when he finds a beat up Zoe he goes all out to protect her & follow her wished even when that means standing in front of Zoe's hospital door to block a raging Joe from getting to her. The scene where he persuades Zoe to come with him was heart breaking to read.
Overall this book has 2 intertwined stories that of Zoe & Joe and the continuing sage of Rusty & Sean. They blend seamlessly and enhance each other, leading to a very entertaining read. This is one of the better reads from the series, with the reader left in no doubt about what is happening and what is being set up to happen. ENJOY!!!
