If Richard King did not exist,
...we would have to invent him.
An excellent interweaving of voices - both in source material and readers - giving a multi-faceted reflection of a period that needs this sort of deep dive. Well done to the author of being able to weave a narrative from strands often kept far apart in popular media.
Though I’m not sure why the quoted lyrics from “Can I Gymru” stop two thirds of the way through.
A minor quibble - a book that puts Rowan Williams, Dave Datblygu, Carmen Thomas, Ann Pettitt, Neil Kinnock and Anghard Tomos into conversation is a vital, and splendidly read, contribution to historical understanding.

Welsh history voiced with spirit and candour
This swept away so much of the misty complacency that this English visitor to Wales had around or about him when it came to understanding this landscape in tandem with its full and tempestuous recent history - all voiced with spirit (hwyl) by those who pushed this future into being.

An interesting history
Growing up in Wales from 1970 to 1991, I remember alot of what has been recorded in this book. There was alot I didn't know but found fascinating.
one thing I would be interested in, is thee view point of the Welsh Assembly and its dictator like policies from 2020.
I highly recommend this audiobook
