I enjoyed this book despite needing tissues. This is an interesting series and at book three it still hooks you in from the start and doesn't let go until the very last word. Each book follows along as Jacqueline "Jacks" investigates murders based on real serial killers in different locations, this time round we are in Washington and it is an emotionally charged situation. Not only does the book cover a school shooting and the aftermath, racism, immigration and the effects going to war has on people but Jacks also find herself having to play nice with her father's new family. I don't normally like it when the home situation takes over the mystery but in this case it really helped the story flow nicely and added mystery, suspicion and eventually a feel good factor. Jack's best friend was sadly missing (you need to read the previous book to find out why) but the new family helped full the big hole she left behind by being great characters, that you just had to wonder about. loving this series and off to start the next book.
Jack's rushes to Washington after he fathers phone call. A friend was shot and killed by a sniper and he fears someone is copying the Beltway snipers. Jack's might not be a licenced private investigator in America but she is an expert in serial killers and her father wants her to use her skill and knowledge to put a stop to the terror. With random targets she will have her work cut out for her until the bodies start to pile up and she notices a pattern. She will have to use her skill to befriend a young policeman in order to get access to what the police have but between the two of them they might just stop the killings. That is if she can learn to get along with her father's new family and stop suspecting them. The new wife is hiding secrets about how well she knew one of the victims, the daughter is sneaking out at night to get up to how knows what and the son locks himself in his room playing violent video games. Surely one of them isn't the killer?
I liked the narrator and thought she really helped bring the story to life and tug on the heart strings.
