About this listen
Ever thought about all the incredible stories hiding in your favorite tracks? Chasing the Sound is the new Audible series from writer, actor and prolific question-asker Kirk Flash, who’s taking listeners all around the globe on a mission to uncover the secrets, misconceptions, and debates buried in some of the world's most iconic music genres.
Each episode starts with a single question about one of the songs from Kirk’s eclectic personal playlist, and goes wherever in the world the answers lead. From the opulent movie sets of Mumbai and the rowdy shebeens of Johannesburg, to the desert resorts of Marrakech and the seamy street corners of London, Kirk talks to renowned musicians, DJs, authors, journalists, socialites and other people who simply know much more than he does about the whos, wheres, whys and whats behind the music Kirk has his own connection to.
Chasing the Sound is an unpretentious exploration of some of the world’s most vibrant, influential and sometimes misunderstood music scenes. Brought to you by the best cultural commentators in their respective fields… and Kirk Flash.

Fantastic blend of culture and (music) history
Great series! Love how each episode is broken down into a different genre of music and takes something so seemingly “backgroundish” and dives so deep into the history and culture behind it.

Cultural awakening
This was such a great listen—the narration was extremely vivid. I felt transported to the scenes Kirk described, and as a millennial, I could really understand and relate.
The podcast is an exploration of 90s music, which goes much further in helping us understand the deep origins of some of Kirk’s favourite songs—where in the world they come from, and how the songs and genres themselves have evolved and formed.
The only thing I was sad about was that it was only four episodes!

Epic, funny, real
A fun retrospective of not-so-distant pop. Kirk's hilariously accurate storytelling brings with it a heady mix of nostalgia, real historical context, and nowness that will transport you to the dancefloor and bring these tunes to life for any lover of music and pop culture.
Loved the commentary and the interconnected conversation - such an interesting mix of guests from all over the world. More please!

A thoughtful sonic odyssey
Flash effortlessly weaves narratives that are as self-effacingly charming as they are insightfully pertinent in this little gem of a series. Can't wait for season 2!
