About this listen
Before healing can begin for Kelli and Heather, they need to believe they are worth cherishing.
Kelli London once dreamed of being a songwriter. As crazy as it seemed, she hoped God would use the lyrics that came to her even while she slept. She dreamed about Brian, too, that the love they shared as high school students would grow into marriage. But choices that still haunt her destroyed those dreams. Until now - when a series of love letters reawakens her hope for the future.
Heather Anderson's life has spun out of control - first, an affair with a married man, then a one-night stand with the drummer of a popular Christian band has left her devastated. Broken and alone, she cried out to the only One able to save her. He met her there, but it was just the beginning. Because now she must take a different path. And the one God has planned for her looks nothing like the one she envisioned.
As Kelli and Heather awaken to their true worth, they find the freedom to pursue their dreams - and relationships - based on the security of knowing God's unconditional love.

Beautiful Christ centred story
Great easy listen and wonderful themes throughout. Kim Cash Tate writes in a lovely style that makes it easy to enjoy the characters who are also really relatable. There was an aspect that troubled me- TW and spoiler - the sexual assault aspect was handled a hit weirdly to me in the sense that I think it slightly downplayed how serious it was and didn't seem to pursue the idea that the man in question should have been reported to the police etc. I would be interested to hear the authors thoughts on that but overall, good book.

Strong Narrative Performance, Gifted Storytelling
Having recently listened to 'Faithful', I was eager to experience another Kim Cash Tate novel - especially given it would bring back many of the characters from that book!
Stephanie has got to be my favourite character in this one! Her irrepressible personality and straight-talking ways had me laughing more than once! Kim Cash Tate has a knack for creating characters that feel real; that feel as though they could be in your family. I love the role that Steph plays in creating opportunities for Kelli, too.
The ways in which life has developed for the key characters in 'Faithful' are heartwarming. I'm glad the author decided to keep the characters in 'Cherished' in the world she had already convincingly created.
I don't know whether it was a mistake on the part of the narrator, or the author, but there is a weird point where Cedric describes being nearly 33, although he's nearly 43! That seems to have missed the eye of the copy-editor / the audio editor.
This was a good listen. Machelle Williams puts on a host of different voices with ease, thus generally making it easy to recognise each character when they speak - and that is notable, as some narrators will do multiple characters in the same voice!
In addition to finding the book engaging, well-written and relatable, I enjoyed the themes of redemption and forgiveness which were compellingly conveyed through the plot. However, I found Brian's big gesture at the concert towards the end of the book, very unrealistic! it slightly annoyed me...
