About this listen
Vienna. A city of history and culture, where Mozart, Freud, and Beethoven once walked the streets. For American university student Jake Meyer, it is a chance to recover from a family tragedy he left behind. Surrounded by the baroque palaces and charming squares of the city, he hopes to pull his life back together.
However, Jake quickly learns danger lurks in the most beautiful of places and his life takes a deadly turn when he provides a false alibi to an attractive fellow student seen fleeing the murder scene of her ex-boyfriend.
When secrets from a forgotten war are unearthed, the mystery and body count start to pile up at Jake's feet. With only the help of a friendly American consular officer, can Jake survive long enough to prove his innocence to the police?
A debut novel of mystery with international flair, City of Ghosts is sure to please both armchair travelers and amateur detectives.

Leaves you wanting more
Would you listen to City of Ghosts again? Why?
Yes as at first listen it seems a very simple book but actually it has quite a depth to it which you realise on a second one and every more enjoyable.
I cannot say its as good as some more well know mysteries but it should not be ignored because of that, it stands up very well against them and certainly has you involved and feeling empathy with the main character and at least one other, which to me is the mark of a good novel. Its not a book you can be bored with as it has enough twists in it to keep you wondering and yet they are fully believable, although I admit it was on second listening I really accepted that but then first listening was very fractured as could not fit in long enough at once to have a long listen.
What did you like best about this story?
The way you are lead through the story so well, you find yourself wanting to know what will happen and are cheering on the main character hoping all will be well
Have you listened to any of Will M Watt’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No admit as far as I know this is the first one but as i own many audible books I might be wrong - will have to check.
I really enjoyed the way he narrated this story, love his style of narrating and would certainly consider a book I might not listen to if he was narrating it.
He really worked well as the narrator, have listened to books of authors I love that have been completely spoilt by bad narrators.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes i really wished I could have listened to it continuously as I really wanted to know what was going to happen but sadly I had to listen to it the first time over 8 days as was so busy and could even fit in listening to it all the time, Second time was able to listen over 2 days and was so much better.
Any additional comments?
I must explain I was given this book free on the understanding I would write a review although it was up to me whether I gave a good or bad one and to do so within a month.
This is my very first audio book review.
I have managed in this time to listen to it twice to ensure I gave it the best review I could. I will be waiting with great anticipation for the next book in the series and yes will happily buy it.
The author has definitely been added to my list of authors whose books I will buy .

An atmospheric thriller set in Venna.
A gripping story with an excellent sense of place. Vienna is not just the location of the plot but almost one of its characters.

fast paced thriller with likeable characters
Where does City of Ghosts rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Excellent. . Set in Vienna, it tells the story of an American student who is still recovering from a traumatic loss in his own life, and then finds himself involved in an international crime ring. The author weaves in the historical and architectural details of Vienna. read this book.
What was one of the most memorable moments of City of Ghosts?
I liked the main character and how the story is written around him. Jake is likable with his history shown a little at a time, finally revealing why he is studying in Vienna and not in touch much with his family. It was really well paced.
Which character – as performed by Will M Watt – was your favourite?
Jake is great. He's the main character so gets the most time on screen, so to speak. A great main character!
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The plot was solid, the history and descriptions of Vienna Austria were awesome.
