Joining us at Audible Studios is radio presenter, psychologist and journalist Claudia Hammond. She was born in Bedfordshire and began radio presenting at the age of 14 with a request programme on Hospital Radio Bedford. Hammond attended Sussex University and studied applied psychology, and then Surrey University to study for an Msc in health psychology. After university, Hammond began lecturing in psychology and reporting for BBC Radio 5 Live.
Hammond is the author of three books: Mind over Money (2016), Time Warped (2012) and Emotional Rollercoaster (2005). Her newest title, The Art of Rest, is to be published in 2019 and looks at different techniques of rest from around the world, informing listeners of the importance of rest as self-care.
Hammond presents several radio programmes, including All in the Mind on BBC Radio 4 and Health Check on the BBC World Service Radio, and has also appeared on shows such as The One Show and BBC Breakfast.
We spoke to Claudia Hammond about her new book, The Art of Rest, how we can rest, why rest is so important and whether she’s any good at it.
