About this listen

Rachel Lacey, author of Stars Collide, serves up a steamy tale of Hollywood fame and subterfuge about a glamorous actress and the sexy bodyguard posing as her girlfriend.

Natalie Keane is one of Hollywood’s top leading ladies, but she’s paid a steep price for her fame. After she was stalked eight years ago, the ensuing media frenzy almost broke her. So when a new threat arises, Natalie agrees to extra security, but she wants to keep it under wraps. The last thing she needs is another tabloid spectacle, especially during awards season.

Taylor Vaughn has made a career as a bodyguard to the stars, but an injury has kept her sidelined for the past three months, jeopardizing her future in the job she loves. When an opportunity arises to work for Natalie Keane, Taylor jumps at the chance—even before knowing the details of the assignment.

From the moment they meet, Natalie knows this could work: Taylor, the bodyguard, masquerading as her girlfriend. The perfect cover story. But as circumstances push the two women closer, the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur.

romance through fear

ALL trauma is dealt with differently, as we are all different. mental health shows no scars on the outside, so it's impossible to see what someone is dealing with.
Rachel treats this particular case with great care and excellent writing.
being disabled through back injury not given time to heal , I empathise with Taylor.
I admired the strength of Natalie to carry her personal public figure whilst suffering from constant fear.
Quin Riley impresses with each narration and gives a stellar performance.
another great book by miss Lacey

Loved this

I’ll be listening to this book again. It is a lovely story, as characters with depth and beautifully read - what’s not to love.

soooo good

Such a fantastic author, love Rachel Lacey book so much. This expertly written story has absolutely everything - lovably flawed characters, a nice mix of angst and romance, a kitten, cute dogs and Quinn Riley 😍

Good story

Good story. Became a little apple pie by the end, but I enjoyed the characters.

A good listen....

A good listen made even better by the excellent narration of Quinn Riley ! The story is a repeated one in this genre as if writers struggle to come up with something new. Something else we 'see' a lot of is a super quick ending , relying on an epilogue (which short changes the reader/listener). Worth a credit though !

Brilliantly written story.

Loved the flawed and realistic characters. Had me rooting for a happy ending and on tenterhooks.

outstanding

could NOT put this down. Racey but tasteful bedroom scenes but don't so well and performed so well by narrator I didn't fast forward past those bits for once. lots of twits and turns and mail biting moments. wizzed through it in 3 days it was so good.

Rachel Lacey and Quinn Riley make a winning combo

I just love Rachel Lacey's writing. She's fantastic at character development and conveying emotions. She also writes involved story arcs which make her books un-put-downable and it is incredibly rare that a word is ever out of place. Quinn Riley's narration helped to make this one an absolute must listen.

Bodyguard

It was a good story, but I felt that the tension didn’t live up to its hype. The reasons behind the need for a bodyguard were valid, but once Taylor was employed, the story seemed to accept that everything will be alright. The attempts to keep the tension going were minor for me and it seemed to lose its edginess. However the story was well thought out and the narrator did a good job.

Good

Enjoyed this book. It was pretty exciting with good likeable characters and a bit more to it than a “will they won’t they”..although there were elements of that too.

Narration was pretty good, a bit cheesy in parts but I would recommend.
