About this listen

CrossFit has been expanding ever so rapidly in the past couple of years. I think it's necessary to analyze CrossFit from an alternative point of view. Many people praise CrossFit due to its presence on ESPN, a Disney Company, and the positive atmosphere created by it's members. As a personal trainer I became very skeptical of CrossFit and continue to remain that way after analyzing this article and critiquing it. Find out why myself and another educated professionals have chosen to look at CrossFit in a negative light. I approached this with a non-biased attitude, but immediately switched to a negative stance after doing my own research.

Not particularly unbiased as this was written by a personal trainer, those who in my experience are the ones quickest to point out the failings of Crossfit.

Sure if you go from working out on the elliptical 3 times a week to doing Olympic lifts the potential for accident and injury is increased.

My personal experience has been to find the most knowledgeable, experienced and more importantly safe trainers in my 30 odd years of attending gym. If your experience isn’t the same then obviously it’s the ‘crossfit’ at fault not your gym... daft reasoning and stopping people enjoying fitness, yes actually waking up wanting to get to the gym... if your personal trainer fills you with this then stick with it! I have and two years into normal gyms plus crossfit I’m fitter than I’ve ever been and more importantly I’ve had the biggest period of gym attendance ever and without anything worse than DOMS or a few blisters on my hands to worry about.

So stop whinging and go work out, in what ever way gets you excited.

No dirty secrets in this book so skip on by and use your credits on something interesting instead.

Short, whinging, anecdotal.... but helpful advice: train carefully
