Summary
"I listened to you, years too late."
“I don't have a right to complain.”
Tattoo artist Floyd Turner's faith in justice was destroyed when he was a rookie cop. He struggled for a couple years with drinks and his own anger. He's long past that stage - now he runs a tattoo shop downtown. But despite his fulfilling career, he's nervous about the upcoming high school reunion. Not having a date to bring there reveals his insecurity: he aches for something more. And then, when he thinks things can't get any more stressful, his former patrol partner walks in.
“These tattoos better make a difference.”
After his past caught up with him, cop Greyson Peters became a fitness instructor and moved back home. His old career was hard from the start, and he's always struggled to find a healthy outlet. He's slowly healing, pouring his energy into exercise, but he's still got unsightly scars he wants covered. It's hard to be a playboy when his self-confidence keeps taking hits. Worse yet, his family keeps pressuring him to get back into the force.
“I turned my pain outward, you turned it inward.”
With Floyd's family chasing him for a debt he's long since paid and Greyson struggling to find closure for the career he still misses, the two old classmates are drawn together. Both men are openly gay now, and they slowly realize they could always be fake dates for the reunion. As their feelings strengthen, can they even hold out until the reunion to admit that they're both afraid of wanting more? And can they open their eyes and see the support all around them?
Crunch is a steamy, stand-alone gay romance novel with a HEA ending and no cliff-hanger.

Redoing this series on Audible
Floyd was a policeman but left and now owns his own tattoo shop.
Greyson was Floyds partner in the police force, but now works as a fitness coach.
Both have backgrounds that haunt them.
A school reunion is coming up, do they go as single lonely Gay adults, if so what will people say. Do they come out to their old school friends.
This book has a lot of hurt, self harming and coming to terms with life. But saying that this is a well written book, fun parts that made me smile. Lots of tattoos and well built men with muscles. Oh and some sex. What more do we need in a book, yes a HEA.
The whole Riley brothers series are hot. Great narration from Michael Dean, love that these books are written as points of view.

Enjoyable, but not my favorite of the series
As much as I loved Floyd in the other books in this series, his romance wasn't my favorite. Don't get me wrong--I still very much enjoyed listening to him and Greyson fall in love, but I wasn't as satisfied with the overall storyline. For me, this story ended before I got all my questions answered. Yes, Floyd was able to stand up to his parents, but something about it left me feeling like I didn't get closure. Yes, Greyson finished getting his tattoos and opened up about his past, but their conversation was oddly short and unemotional. Even the pseudo-confrontation with Brett didn't go how I expected it to, and it left me feeling off-balance. Maybe my dissatisfaction came from how great the other three books in this series were in comparison, or it could be that Greyson and Floyd's cop history was never fully described. Whatever the case, I didn't feel as connected to these men as I did to the other couples.

Focused on character development
This is an excellent story about two ex-police officer partners who reunite after both have had time to assess their time on the force, its effects and the aftermath. One misses the job, the other doesn't and when they decide to go to a reunion together feelings develop. I really, really liked that this book was about two adult men who acted like adults. They had baggage, but they talked things out. Very much a character driven rather than a plot driven story. Michael Dean's performance was perfect here. He really got inside these characters' heads and made them come alive.

I really enjoyed this couple and their story
I really enjoyed this book in the series. It was a slow, low-key romance with plenty of angst and intrigue that just really clicked all the boxes for me. The lack of relationship drama and communication issues that could have been in play and weren't was really refreshing, making this story even more enjoyable.

Wonderful story and a great addition to the series. I really loved the found family theme of the book. Some scenes were really emotional and touched my heart. Floyd and Greyson were great together and I loved reading their story. the narrator was as always brilliant!

More introspection than action
This is the fourth book in the Riley Brothers series and it now moves away from the three Riley Brothers and starts to focus on friends who are close to them. That was a bit of a detraction for me from the series, but this did end up being an enjoyable story nonetheless. This book centers on Floyd, the owner of the tattoo shop Chase (Jackson’s boyfriend) works at, and Greyson, a childhood friend of the Riley brothers. Floyd and Greyson are ex-cops who actually used to be partners. Their backstories are really intriguing and complex. They both have baggage and trauma to work though, but when they meet up again and decide to attend their high school reunion together, things develop between them. As with all these books, there’s angst, sex … oh, yeah, in this one we also get tattoos. Characters from the previous books show up throughout which is an added bonus.
Michael Dean’s narration, as always, is terrific and a definite value-add to this book. He does a great job of creating distinct voices for the characters and delivering that emotional connection. Overall, this is a great addition to this series.

a sweet unique second chance
wow! this one was emotional! both Floyd and Greyson have challenging and somewhat trauma filled pasts that they are trying to heal and grow from. Greyson's hit a little too close to home but was written really well I appreciated it even more. These two are so good together and I love seeing them actually talk to each other and grow together. a beautiful story!
