About this listen

If there's one thing that Bureau of Indian Affairs Investigator Emmett Quanah Parker knows, it's that the dead don't always stay dead.

When the corpse of a woman, brutally murdered and bizarrely mutilated, is discovered on Havasupai Nation land, Parker is paired with FBI Special Agent Anna Turnipseed in a hastily assembled task force of two. The two share a mixed Native American ancestry - and little else. As they are pulled deeper into a complex case, Parker suspects they are being led, like Custer to a Little Bighorn, into a killer's trap.

It took a little while to warm up and shine off the details about the Indian tribes didn't sink in at all but it turned in to a decent story, the narrator had a bit of a slow drawl but i thought it was in keeping with the character and was not bad i quickly got used to it. i will definately listen to book 2.

A slow burn.

Interesting subject matter, thought provoking, well narrated, characters well rounded. I now am looking for my next Kirk Mitchell.

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. Great characters and atmosphere. A taut plot with formidable foes and a tenacious investigator.

Too hard to follow at times , unless you can listen to it in long spells

just ok

Whilst probably over egging the awesomeness of the lead character I think this is a good start to a series which I will be continuing

A good beginning

The plot was revealed in a slow and intriguing guile. The characters were many but the focus around the main characters was well developed. Really enjoyed it

Very intriguing

This was a really interesting story and I learned a lot about Native Americans, proving that I knew absolutely nothing about the people and their traditions. I liked the main characters and absolutely loved the narrator. He made the whole thing come to life. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

Intriguing

Wow! apart from falling for the narrator's voice....the story is beautifully crafted, and I really was riveted from start to finish. Off to listen to the next one!

Fascinating

Not for the “skim listener” more for the engrossed listener this is a different take on the usual murder whodunnit. Well worth engaging your attention.

Great story well told
