In Volume #8: Murder Most Sadistic you’ll listen to stories of people who weren’t satisfied with mere murder and wanted their victims to suffer in ways that are unspeakable. Listen to how detectives and forensic science identified, tracked down, and convicted these twisted offenders.

Volume #8 includes:

  • The Fetish: What began as a peculiar fascination with women's feet evolved into a chilling series of murders. One killer's descent from early deviant behavior to the brutal slayings of seven women. Learn how twisted desires left a trail of terror and death, culminating in one of Oregon's most infamous criminal cases.
  • The Worst: An ordinary appearing antique dealer in Kansas City was actually a man whose sadistic tendencies led him to become one of the most horrifying serial killers. The Kansas City Butcher preyed on vulnerable young men, luring them into his home where they would face unimaginable torture and brutality. One desperate escape by a victim unraveled the gruesome truth and a shocking discovery that finally brought him to justice.
  • The Years Add Up: A peaceful community in Rhode Island was rocked by a series of brutal murders that left investigators baffled and residents terrified. It began with the horrifying discovery of a young mother savagely stabbed 58 times in her own home. The case went cold until a woman and her two young daughters were found brutally murdered, their bodies mutilated.
  • Plus 11 more shocking, true crime murder stories.

A Word of Warning: The explicit details of these murders come directly from eyewitness accounts, interviews, police reports, court transcripts, crime scenes, and autopsy reports. They contain disturbing facts that may not be suitable for all listeners.

Too disturbing for me.

This is a well written, well researched and nicely narrated collection of true crime stories. Some very interesting albeit disturbing and grisly murders are reported and described in lots of detail.
In all honesty though it is a little too disturbing for my taste and while I appreciate the quality of the audiobook, it's not for me. Others may enjoy it off course, this is just my opinion. I'll stick to fiction.

I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.

Definitely worth a listen

True crime does seem to be the in thing at the moment, so there is quite a lot to choose from, this book is one of the better ones, it appears to be well researched with a mixture of cases, some of which I know of and some new to me, there was even a historical case thrown in.

There is a problem though, it has a very poor choice of narrator, it is read as if he is totally bored, in a robotic monotone way, so much so that I found myself trying to work out if it was a person or text to speak software reading it. That being said, you do get used to it, especially if you listen to a decent amount at a time, if you are only dipping in and out for a few minutes it is a bit harder.

All in all it is a fascinating listen, let down by poor narration, but if you persevere with listening you do get used to. I wont let it put me off listening to more in the series.
