Summary

No John le Carre
I'm not sure if it's the plot or the narration that makes this so uninteresting. I got it because I heard the former head of MI6 saying this was the most realistic portrayal of what being a spy is like. Well if that's true, I'm glad I didn't follow my original ambition of trying to be James Bond and join MI6. It's really boring.
The thing is there is action and suspense. I don't know if it's the narration, but they're just not interesting or they're entirely unbelievable. Which is weird for a book that's supposed to be hyper realistic.
The narration definitely doesn't help. He seems to stumble over Arabic names, making it hard to follow who's who, and has this weird fluctuating pace. Like he jumps about between 1x and 1.5x speed seemingly at random. So he's chatting along and then when he gets to a random part of the paragraph he seems to speed up. So you have to keep going back to see what he said and check if it's important or not. Which means you can never get in the flow of just listening and I gave to half way through. Really disappointing.

just BRILLIANT.
A well written,well paced book. vivid characters and excellent plot line. would like to read more about the main character. would be fantastic for T.V.
