About this listen

Murder. Money. Revenge.

Outwardly, Ben Stephens appears to be a normal, hardworking family man. In reality his life has been in turmoil since the murder of his wife, Alice, seven years ago. The killer was never caught. Now remarried - to the woman he was having an affair with while still married to Alice - Ben's life is once again spiraling out of control, and he's become heavily indebted to an unscrupulous criminal who is baying for Ben's blood.

When Ben's estranged twin sister, a police detective, unexpectedly returns to his life, asking too many questions for comfort, it becomes clear that without action, Ben's life will soon reach a crisis point from which there will be no return. In order to avoid falling further into the mire, Ben must examine the past if he is to survive the present - but just how much pressure can one man take before he breaks?

Dark Fragments is a fast-paced thriller with a blend of mystery, suspense and action that will appeal to listeners of psychological thrillers as well as a broad section of crime, thriller and action fans.

Liked this book, I listened on Audio books during my commutes to/from work. This book drags you in deeper and deeper until the very end when it twists, will leave you shocked and wanting more, to me this seemed like a bit of a departure from the Authors normal genre of work, however it is well written and will get you asking what other work is available from the Author. keep up the great work Rob!
Can't wait for the next one

I enjoyed every part of this book!
The story was full of twist & turns, you'll never guess what's going to happen next.
Exciting & interesting but realistic which I felt was a refreshing change when reading (listening too) a thriller.
The characters were fantastic & the narration brought all of them to life. I'll definitely look out for this Matt Bates in the future.
Just about to look for another book by Rob!!

Fallen off the edge of my seat!

I listened to the audio book version of this novel and liked it a lot! The narrator is brilliant; he really nailed Ben's character and made listening to the story very enjoyable.
Ben, on the other hand, doesn't have many enjoyable moments nowadays. His life has been a roller-coaster ride since his wife was brutally murdered and he seems to be going downhill pretty fast. He feels like the whole world is out to get him and it's up to him to seek revenge, sort things out and get his happy ending. Unfortunately for him though, life is not a fairy tale. As the story progresses we start to understand the reasons behind his questionable actions and way of thinking, however his character also becomes that much less likeable. His story is told through conversations with someone who encourages him to talk it through until we reach the end that you may or may not have guessed.
All in all, it's a great book, fast paced, interesting and I would definitely recommend reading/listening to it.

Great story, brilliant narrator

One of the most engrossing stories I have listened to for ages. Never quite sure just how the plot is going to develop was one of the bonuses.
The dichotomies that face mere mortals! And what we are capable of if pushed to breaking pint.
The spiralling lack of control, and the sense of helpless rage were palpable.
Just a shame roar I have listened to all Rob Sinclair books!!

Superb
