Psychology is a huge topic so it's unrealistic to think that one book contains all the answers. Nevertheless, this book started as a good general primer about psychology and was doing a pretty engaging job up to the chapters covering mentalism. There was far too much time and energy devoted to mentalism, magic and anecdotal psychic powers and frankly the author let herself down with this. Was it really necessary to describe how to set up and prepare to do magic tricks - did this topic truly belong in a book with a title like this one? It just felt like unnecessary padding to me - and poorly selected padding at that. There were other chapters in the book that gave very good overviews - for example, the chapter on sociopathy was very informative to the layman.
