Summary

The ultimate prepper's adventure. The journey begins here!

Nathan Owens was just topping up his tank when the gas pump stopped working. So did the radio. And the lights. Then planes starting falling out of the sky, and plutonium-powered satellites began to explode.

A massive solar storm - the Coronal Mass Event that had been predicted for years - finally hit Earth, and the electromagnetic pulse it created instantaneously threw the world back to the Bronze Age. Soon, the radioactive fallout from space would spread death and disease across the globe.

Owens and his friends had been preparing for something like this for years, and now it had finally happened. But when it came, it came at the worst possible time. He was 1,000 miles away from his family and his redoubt - and it was his only chance to survive the dark days ahead. If he ever hoped to escape, he would have to draw together a team of survivalists to save those nearby before he could even begin the last, most important journey of his life.

And there was one thing he hadn't counted on at all: the EOTWAWKI wasn't just a natural disaster. There was a sinister, almost omnipotent human force, behind it...and it wanted him dead.

the narrator was quite poor & story drawn out.

the story was ok, but the narrator was like reading out loud at school rather than including any emotion or character. the idea for the story was interesting, but it seemed drawn out in places when every detail was described even when it wasnt important in building an image or advancing the story. sometimes it got a little repetative.

I really enjoyed this book.

I don't know what happened, it started kind of slow but then I got sucked in and the night was gone. Great characters, gets a bit overly vicious with the bad guys, I thought at one or two points, but survival is survival! The narrator is great once he gets into it, a little slow at first, but just hang in there as it is very much worth it! I got feeling of joy at the wonder of how truly generous of spirit people can be to one another! I have experienced it in real life and it was a lovely reminder, of course there were a few of those who are totally lacking in that spirit! All in all it felt like I was reading a true story instead of fiction! Ok so on to book 2, I couldn't find book 3 though, but hopefully it is somewhere in audible!

Flat narration ruined it for me

Maybe I have been spoilt by the mostly fabulous narrations, but this chaps voice was too slow- I sped up the speed. Also every voice was exactly the same. Gave up I’m afraid
