Summary
Julia Chapman's fifth Dales Detectives Agency novel, Date With Danger, sees our intrepid leads Samson and Delilah on the trail of a sheep rustler turned killer. A heartwarming cosy crime caper, perfect for fans of Richard Osman's The Thursday Murder Club and M.C. Beaton.
In the heart of Yorkshire, the Dales Detective Agency is about to face its biggest challenge.
A fatal accident at the local livestock auction mart summons the detective duo Samson O’Brien and Delilah Metcalfe, but what starts as a simple health-and-safety investigation soon takes a sinister turn when they discover evidence that suggests murder.
With local sheep being threatened by a gang of rustlers plaguing the Dales, and poacher Pete Ferris setting in motion a blackmail plot that will see Samson pulled back into trouble with his nemesis Rick Proctor, all three cases are about to converge.
Samson and Delilah are now going to find their next investigation is fraught with danger; a danger that will leave them fighting for their lives . . .
Full of wit, warmth and colourful characters, continue the comforting mystery series with Date with Deceit.

Yet another rollicking mystery from the Dales
I’m working my way through these mysteries and this is yet another great tale from Bruncliffe starring Samson and Delilah and of course Tolpuddle.
This mystery centres around a sheep rustling gang and their connection to the Bruncliffe auction mart where someone has already died and employees are falling under suspicion. As usual we have various subplots including Clive Knowles love life, day-glo sheep, blackmail, shifty Rick Proctor, and the burgeoning relationship between Samson and Delilah. We also find out a little bit more about Samson’s reasons for being back in Bruncliffe and what he faces with the police investigation into his conduct.
As usual it’s a story filled with twists and turns, nefarious characters, humour, strong tea and lots of dogestives!, beautifully narrated. Bring on the next one!

This series is brilliant
I absolutely love this series of books. All so cleverly plotted, with lots of twists and red herrings to keep you guessing.
All played out with such likeable characters.
Elizabeth Bower brings each one to life amazingly well.
I'm loving revisiting this whole series in readiness for Book 7 being released very soon.
All of them are just as enjoyable as the first time I heard them.
