About this listen

One day, the power goes off and the world falls silent. And in two very different parts of America, two very different nightmares are about to begin.

In Manhattan, Elizabeth and her brother Henry are all alone in their parents' apartment. Looking out the window, they can see the carnage slowly spreading through the city. But as hopes fade for their parents to come back, Elizabeth and Henry discover that dangers might already have entered the building.

Meanwhile, in Oklahoma, Thomas and his family live on an isolated farm. They too have noticed that something has changed, and a chance encounter on a deserted road leads to a moment of pure horror. An infection is spreading, and soon more victims begin to fall.

Excellent book and well presented with the two readers. Highly recommend the book and can't wait for book 2

Fantastic book highly recommended.

unsure after the book why or what is really happening, ending up with no conclusions to where the world's gone or why.

unclear

Not sure I want to listen to the sequel. It seems a standard end of the world story full of stereotypes… But I might give it a try to see if it improves.

Hmmm - average story

Disapointed in the infantile style od Elizabeth narration. Apart from this the plot is ok albeit slow .

start of a larget story

Couldn’t go through more than 1h because of the bad performance, especially the male voice. The story seems ok, a bit on the childish side, but again, can’t properly review it as I couldn’t listen to much of it

Bad narration

An okay premise, not amazing, don’t think I’ll be going back to the rest.
Performances were slightly annoying and the male voice was so tinny it hurt my ears.

Okay…

What’s happening?? Slowly the story unfolds , leaving you with questions. Character set up is good

Leaves you wanting more

I listened to it all but things don’t add up. You have people who disappear? The streets empty I don’t think so. Not very well thought out. Narration of the female I thought she had a nice voice but sometimes too childish. Sorry but not my cup of tea.

Not for me.

A few good bones but dialogue is stilted and repetitive, the performances are painful to listen to. Needed a much stronger editor and better casting director.

Weak example Of the genre

Feels like a young adult book. Didn’t notice that anywhere in the description. Narration is terrible, particularly the whiny Henry and the oh so not male sounding bob

Awful narration
