About this listen

Meet Sam Thornton. He collects souls. Sam’s job is to collect the souls of the damned, and ensure they are dispatched to the appropriate destination. But when he’s sent to collect the soul of a young woman he believes to be innocent of the horrific crime that’s doomed her to Hell, he says something no Collector has ever said before... “No.”

The ideas here are new and original but I struggled to like the central character and I found it being overly gritty for no apparent reason. It felt a little overdone to me. The pacing felt odd with too much action that didn't really drive the story forward. Not one for me but I don't think that it was badly written or plotted. It simply was not to my taste.

I struggled to get in to this book

I didnt finish this. I got 8 hours in then decided I couldnt do it. Everytime the narrator speaks, in the background you can hear the saliva sloshing about in his mouth. It was a mild annoynace at first, something I thought I could put up with. But, by the 8hr mark, it became positively nauseating and I just could keep listening lest I'd vomit. Honestly, couldnt someone have given the guy a glass of water or something, or edited out the mouth sounds? Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go gag.

SOMEONE GIVE THIS NARRATOR A GLASS OF WATER.
