absolutely the best

As this is a collection of stories, several only focussing on a moment of free time in Jack and Ethans schedule, we get more romance than in the books. Coupled with a stellar narrator, I could not be more happy, listening to this.

The Novellas

I loved these novella, where we get a continuation of the story and also get Ethan's point of view for the first time. Excellent story and narration.

great set of novellas

I love the push and pull between Jack and Ethan in these novellas. It's frustrating but so good to see them building up to something more. I'm sure the end result will be worth it, after all.

The narrator, Rowan Scott, is amazing and adds a lot to the stories.

🎯 Hits the Spot!

Where Death Meets the Devil (Book 1) was excellent and I was ready to jump into Why the Devil Stalks Death (Book 2). Then I realised I had to read not one, not two but four novellas to have sufficient context to do so. I read the Coda when it was a freebie online. It added nothing fresh and cooled my ardour. So, when the Novellas were packaged as a set, I was incentivised. The Novella’s explore the evolving dynamic of Jack and Ethan’s relationship and why they desire, comfort and balance the other. Back too is the dry humour, spying, action, adventure, Australia, South East Asia (yay!) and intelligent writing.

🎧 Ethan’s vocal’s still have a pronounced nasal quality but Rowan Scott has nailed the English accent and the formality of Ethan’s language. This juxtaposes nicely with Jack’s much livelier, potty mouthed, casualness. A special mention of how Rowan Scott’s ‘Jack’ conveys so much with my favourite being during the steamy scenes. Damn! Damn! Hot Damn! Mr. Scott is so much fun and just for this, I forgive his limitations.
