Summary
Demelza has dramatically cut back on what she used to think of as her “normal” life after her diagnosis, starting with her teaching career and many of her hobbies. When she tries a dating site and meets Corentyn, a widowed father and banker, it feels like a second chance at something her illness almost stole from her.
At first, Corentyn has no idea Demelza has FND, an invisible disability that causes breakdowns between the brain’s commands and the body’s actions. Demelza is terrified that telling him will make Corentyn run away. Not only must she summon the courage to share her whole life with her friend, but she also must recognize who she is can be someone far beyond her physical limitations.
Demelza and Corentyn is both a story of discovery and a message of hope to those suffering from FND, functional neurological disorder.
