A Joy. Thank you Katherine Kerr and Ruth Urquhart
I read these books multiple times. Every time Kerr wrote another I would start the series again so I would appreciate the new addition to its fullest. Sounds sad, I know.
It's not. Give these books a go, you won't regret it. Of course Urquhart narration gives a whole other dimension that I did not have back when these books were first published, so thanks to Audible and her excellent interpretation of the characters, I get to relive the joy of Deverry all over again. Ye Gods!

splendid
Having read these books years ago it was great to find them on Audible. The narration is irritating, but either you get accustomed to it or it improved over the book.
Splendid is overused in dialogue and descriptions!

I read these books some time ago.
I loved this Welsh story line that much that I'm going to listen to them again. Now tell me that I didn't enjoy this story.

Great story, superbly narrated
Top story, great narration. if you're a fantasy lover, do not miss this.
I've been a fan of Katharine Kerr's Deverry novels for decades. They're classic fantasy with a Celtic twist. This set of the first four novels concerns the young swordswoman Jill, her mercenary father Cullyn, and the nobleman Rhodry Maelwedd, and the apparently immortal sorcerer Nevyn. Their ongling story is interspered with stories of their past lives and the sins and errors that bind their souls together through rebirth after rebirth.
The narration by Ruth Urquhart is superb. Since this is a story spanned generations there is a large cast of characters, and with a variety of tones, pitches and accents, Urquhart manages not onoy to make each ubique and memorable, but in many cases to relate a character's voice to those of their past lives.
