Brandenburg, 1876: Aufgewachsen auf Schloss Freystetten als Tochter des Gärtners, scheint der Weg der 13-jährigen Ricarda vorgezeichnet. Sie beschließt, selbst Medizin im Ausland zu studieren, weil es ihr in Deutschland nicht möglich ist. Da macht ihre Liebe zu einem Studenten plötzlich alles noch komplizierter.
