Summary
Every time Rueben Peet dies, he "returns" to his body with the memories of what's to come. He gets to "repeat" his mistakes again and again and hope he can do something different to prevent the future.
It's Groundhog Day meets the worst super-spy, ever.
When New York City comes under threat of nuclear destruction, Rueben is the only one who can save the city. But even an infinite number of re-dos is not enough, for lurking in the background is a nefarious force threatening, not only NYC, but also the world.
Rueben and his trusted friends must find a way to stop this evil from consuming everything and everyone. And the only way to do it is by dying again to save the world.
This boxed set includes: Die Again to Save the World, Die Again to Save Tomorrow, Yesterday Never Dies, and From Earth Z with Love.

Starts well
The first book is pretty good, which was an included title, so I picked up the omnibus for a credit.
The series has a good idea for the first book, it works well and it’s a good time, but by the second the author(s) clearly didn’t know how to continue that story so it declines badly with every book.
So the first book and premise is that when the protagonist dies he gets Groundhog Day sent back in time by a random time from 20 minutes to 3 days earlier, kind of like an auto save in a video game when your character dies in a game.
By the second book they were clearly out of ideas as to how to keep that idea interesting so they make up reasons why the whiny protagonist, who becomes more whiny and dislikable in every book, doesn’t or can’t do that and come up with some new random nonsense unrelated to that premise, so it becomes a multiverse thing instead, which is not interesting and seems a pointless thing to care about, then a random reason to care about it.
So there’s an alternate protagonist and then there’s a world ending virus that the alternate protagonist has, which would get worse if the real whiny obsessive incel protagonist does his Groundhog Day thing, so he doesn’t and it’s kind of dull.
They take away the other self’s ability to Groundhog Day and then have to go to multiverse world then back in time to find an original virus strain, but the virus is a dust monster for some reason, but it’s unclear why they couldn’t just shoot the alternate self in the main universe and incinerate the body, entirely and instantly solving the problem.
So I guess I’m saying the series manufactures problems and those new problems get weaker, sillier, and less compelling each time.
Each book in this omnibus is worse than the one before.
So I won’t be continuing this story or getting any of the later titles in this series, because it’s pretty much a chore trying to get it finished by the fourth one, not a fun or enjoyable story by that point.
Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
