Auf der Burg Ballenstedt findet ein Fest statt, auf welchem sich das hochadelige Volk für politische Gespräche versammelt hat. Als die Frau des verarmten Burgherren auf mysteriöse Weise ums Leben kommt, schwört die Tochter Uta Rache. Durch ihren Wunsch nach Gerechtigkeit und ihrer zeichnerischen Begabung findet sich Uta als Bauzeichnerin an der Naumburger Kathedrale wieder, wo sie ihren eigenen Gerichtssaal errichtet und schafft so einen Raum für Gerechtigkeit im heiligen römischen Reich.
