Tanzen war nie meine große Leidenschaft. Es war mir immer peinlich, herumzuhüpfen, als hätte ich einen Sack Flöhe im Kleid, und mich dabei auch noch von einer Horde angetrunkener Bauernburschen anstarren zu lassen. Ich war eher der Typ für vernünftige, harte Arbeit. Mit sechzehn bekam ich eine Stelle in einer Weberei, und von da an arbeitete ich praktisch mein ganzes Leben lang.
