A strange but wonderful mix
This collection contains a generous helping of over a dozen works, not counting the hundred odd poems and dozens of fairy tales.
Many of them are works available separately on Audible, in the same version or by other readers. This is naturally the best way to obtain them, so much material for one credit.
The reading by Sven Götz is faultless and you can see why he is an esteemed voice actor. In the last sections we also get to hear poetry capably sung by him. He does regional accents very well including the Viennese in Gustl or the Plattdeutsch in Schimmelreiter. He also does voices for the characters in an imaginative way with first class execution.
If there's a criticism I suppose it must be in the mix of adult and children's literature. Someone who has read Kafka and Goethe may not be seeking the nonsense verse or fairy tales. But for the learner of German wishing to become acquainted with the culture of the German speaking world, so as to share a common linguistic patrimony with natives, it's just the thing.
So if you are learning German this is one of the best recommendations I could give you.
Most texts can be found in the original and in English translation on Kindle, there are some exceptions, notably Munchausen.
