  • Summary

  • Who better to inspire and help us build better lives than Astronauts - people who have spent so much time training for and living in one of the most extreme environments that humans will ever encounter. Astronauts undergo some of the most rigorous training, intensive health screening, and psychological testing in the world – and that’s before they even leave this planet’s atmosphere. It’s a life experience and journey that could prove invaluable to us here on Earth also.

In this eight-part podcast series, leading astronauts Nicole Stott and Helen Sharman pick their favourite stories from space – to help us build on our everyday skills and emotions to enhance our lives. Drawing on personal insights from fellow astronauts plus evidence from acclaimed wellbeing experts, they go beyond the benefits of all the training, tools and technologies that they've used in their careers and ask how the knowledge gained from space exploration can elevate and inspire us. Not only as individuals but also as communities, helping us make the world a better, more co-operative, kinder place.

Impressive podcast, applicable knowledge from Real Heros

The format / layout of the podcast makes it entertaining and educational in an enjoyable way. I like the diversity of different presenters and the guest appearances. So many interesting concepts in this first podcast about managing fear as an astronaut, with excellent first hand experiences of what I would be terrified but our astronaut heros’ handling issues with mindfulness and capability where fear would be the natural response for the likes of myself.
I will use the distance self talk concept offered. These concepts should be taught to all young and old alike to help us be better people.
I never imagined that the space station was the size of a football field!

Out of this world

These space travellers bring home wisdom from their successful space missions and demonstrate that success comes from community, co-operation as well as having the flexibility of being a good follower and leader. This series offers a lot of practical tips on developing your inner astronaut so you can strengthen your life skills to bring your humanity to any situation here on earth. A real remedy for a global society especially in these times.
