About this listen
An animal communicator, a dead body, and furry witnesses with a story to tell...
I’m Dr. Kallie Collins, a veterinarian who can communicate with animals. No, it’s not as crazy as it sounds. Yes, it has landed me smack dab in the middle of a murder investigation.
It all starts with a bone.
A dog digs up the bone. A detective wants the bone. The dog wants to keep the bone. That’s where I come in. Instead of tranquilizing the dog as the skeptical detective suggests, I use an animal-communication technique, and voila! Tail wagging, the dog drops the bone, then leads me to the location of a complete human skeleton. Sheesh!
Now, I’m up to my ears in four-legged witnesses and trying to figure out who the killer is before it’s too late and another person disappears.
I’m just hoping it won’t be me.

A mystery and pets what more could you want
I enjoyed this book but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. Reading the blurb (Kallie uses an animal-communication technique)
I was expecting more a doctor Doolittle or reading the pets body language type of story instead the animals communicate by sending her visions. This isn't anything supernatural it's just something she can do after a training course and everybody accepts it. It may seem weird but it actually works and plays out nicely in the story. The mystery was interesting and the author is obviously a big mystery fan because a lot of famous characters (that I know well, being a fan myself) were mentioned and brought a smile to my face, especially when Kallie kept wondering what Kinsey Millhone would do. The characters are fun and like able, I really liked the two different personalities of the best friends. It's a fun book and I will be looking out for book two.
Kallie as the vet on call gets sent out to help the police, when a dog is found guarding human bones. Using her special skills she gets the gone back and is able to lead the police to the rest of the body using this dogs help. By doing this she becomes the go to girl for a certain detective but it also puts her in the spot light of a killer. With threats being received, families disappearing, business that are not what they appear and a cat and dog to worry about Kallie has no option but to continue helping the police with there investigation, no matter how many times she is told to stay out of it or by doing so she put herself and her friends in danger. Well Kinsey wouldn't back down.
I liked the narrator and thought she did a good job bringing the characters to life.

Utterly captivating.
An utterly captivating cozy mystery with wonderful characters, adorable pets, a riveting storyline, edge of your seat suspense and a dash of romance.
To top it off Naomi Rose-Mock’s narration is brilliant.
