About this listen
Inara Caan is an embittered vestal to The Order of the Avenging Hand. Her job: traveling worldwide with her demon partner, using magic to destroy monsters and mythological creatures wherever the Order finds them. Her next hunt takes her to Boston. She expects to find villainy beyond compare. Instead, she has been tasked with killing a happy family with a young daughter.
For reasons she doesn't understand, the Order betrays Inara and sends a winged assassin to kill her. She goes on the run, taking the family with her. She battles her way through the streets of Boston, finding help in the unlikeliest of places. As enemies close in from all sides, she stretches the limits of her power trying to save everyone. She may escape the Order but not the demon bound to her soul.

Loved This So Much
Eastern Europe 810ad. Really graphic prologue but gives you a huge insight to the background. The narrator really brings out the gore.
Present day. I loved that every character had a different narrator well one of two but different voices making this really easy to follow. Every chapter started with a different characters perspective. Early on you get the understanding of sorcery, demons and magical creatures.
I loved the connections with Anara (if that’s how you spell her name) being born in 88, the games she played on her phone, the music she listens to. The storyline comes together when you find out Anara has the difficult decision if she’s to kill her next order.
I didn’t like that the author used ‘japo’ that kind of put me off when I got half way through. However I did adore the relationship build up between Lee and Yuki. (Think I’ve spelt Yuki correct) this book really embarks on a phenomenal chase.
I loved there was slight romantic connections. I loved how Anara was just a normal girl deep down with normal feelings and wanted to live her life as her own. For a fantasy audio I found this extremely easy to follow. I definitely cannot wait for book 2 to find out what else happens.
There’s some great characters in this from Biff, Yuki, Thomas and so much more. This audio book was brilliant.

Great start to the series
This isn’t a genre I usually go to, but I found it really engaging and I could not stop listening to it.
I liked Inara, her job was to kill monsters, demons and other mythological creatures but she also had a heart. I liked that; it made her character more ‘real’.
The story flowed very well at a fast pace and I listened to it in one sitting.
The narrators, Ralph Scott and Kendra Murray were great, they each made the characters their own and expressed them fantastically.
Donnybrook Good-bye is the first book in The Longest Game series and what a great start, it seems like it going to be a fantastic series.
