About this listen

Jesse Ventura has had many lives—as a Navy SEAL, as a star of pro wrestling, as an actor, and as the governor of Minnesota. Written with award-winning author Dick Russell at a secluded location on Mexico's Baja Peninsula, Ventura's best-selling book reveals for the first time why he left politics—and why he is now considering reentering the arena with a possible independent run for the presidency.

Editor reviews

Brash, outspoken, and fiercely independent, Jesse Ventura has never shied away from the spotlight. Though he can be a divisive figure, it's hard not to appreciate his passion and conviction in his beliefs, which are on full display with Don't Start the Revolution Without Me!

Ventura's political memoir is heavily critical of the establishment - particularly the two-party system - and he pulls no punches in laying out his vision for America's future.

Chris O'Brien expertly captures Ventura's zeal with his and dynamic and enthusiastic delivery, so even those who disagree with the politics espoused will find it to be an entertaining, thought-provoking listen.

Legend

I remember Jesse as a wrestler and movie star when I was young, I didn't know much bout his political career, I believe he is one of the good guys and is really likeable, great story.

Ventura Autobiography

Jesse Ventura brings intelligence, humour and a literary flair to his autobiography. If the rest of his life is as full and varied as it seems to have been so far, then he will have much more to tell us in due course. Much of Ventura's past writing has been about politics and public matters, but in this book he tells us about his early life, early career and time spent on career breaks as well as his experience of being Minnesota Governor and working as a talk show radio host. Despite his passionate and caring nature he refrains from beating the reader over the head when discussing his political views and relating the inevitably trying experiences he has encountered in his brief political career. On the contrary, every page is laced with humour, compassion and a personal touch that sustains the reader's interest and makes this book a pleasure to read. Well read by Chris O'Brien, though strangely I thought Mr. V. had read it himself.

Where's Jesse The Mouth Ventura?

I'd love Jesse narrate his own books one day. This was a great listen but I think it would do so much better in his voice despite O'Brien doing a good job.
