Duncan

Loved the narration of George Ellington, who brings the characters, drama and heat all to your ears.

This is one steamy, keep you on your toes, time traveling Highlander story. Duncan is Highlander who has been stuck in a time loop. He’s is a 500-year-old Scottish warrior, who has been cursed to relive the tragic death of his love Julia over and over again.
We have Gods, witches, curses, vampires, and giant wolves. You will be routing and hoping the fates will be kind and let Duncan and Julia get the happily.

Brilliant characters, chemistry, action angst and steam.

So sit back and enjoy.

Unexpected fun

It a first for me I've never read a time travel romance.
But I do read a LOT of highlander stuff !
It was a fun time and I actually did not think I was going to enjoy it (Only based on the cover).

I liked that the Mason talked almost like a caveman (for modern standards obviously) there was no filters back in his days.
I also liked that she didn't spend 10 chapters in denial. After a moment she just accept it. Tho I thought the moment when she was panicked about him killing people was useless . He lived centuries ago obviously he killed people....
I love book that know how to portrayed Scotland for how beautiful it is . And this book delivered

I don't have much to say but I like that there is more to this world not just random highlander that time travel .
Maybe if there's a sequel some others creature will appears

Has potential but a little disappointing.

While I liked the idea of this story, after all it has rugged highlanders, time travel and romance, I struggled with this audiobook and felt it wasn't well executed. Initially I found it crudely presented and perhaps a little sloppy. Turns out there was an explanation for that, so if you end up feeling the same, please wait until Duncan makes an appearance. Turns out Mason is a bit unpolished and his characteristics shine through the first little bit of the audiobook. The book redeems itself with the appearance of Duncan and the plot is partially explained in the process. Added to this though, while Toni Goode does explain that the narrator was selected for his Scottish lilt, I thought his American accent wasn't great at all. The intial bit of the story was set in New York city and it was a little difficult to listen to the beginning because of this, adding to the general lack of polish I mentioned earlier.

Duncan and, by extension, Julia, are stuck in a time loop which involves a witch and a curse. It ends with Julia dying in Duncan's arms and Duncan having to relive these moments again and again. What bothered me was how the curse was resolved. There was no explanation as to why the curse was placed, how it unraveled, how the characters got out of the situation, etc. There was no grand battle, an explanation of the foe... some kind of plot development. It lacked this entirely, though some of the details can be inferred.

Then the ending seem to drag on unnecessarily and a few issues remained unresolved. I don't want to go into details because I don't want to spoil the story but I felt that, after everything, there could have been a more complete and satisfactory ending to the book.

Like I said, the book has good bones. I think it could have been an excellent story and I am curious to see how Toni Goode develops the series. I am hopeful that the rest of the series may be more interesting.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
