Great book
I thought this book was wonderful and a life work to the human condition. I am currently exploring EMDR for childhood experiences which have been buried but reoccur as flashing vague thoughts. Coupled with my behaviour and self beliefs looking forward to accepting myself fully. Enjoy its wonderful for anyone seeking truth and healing x

Very insightful
An insightful read which links the body with the mind and highlights how both can be healed. Having case studies make the read an authentic experience.

Not as informed as I had hoped.
The content is largely case studies, which is fine, but while each case is different on the whole, the condition is the same, so the treatment is the same. I made notes and got to two pages of factual information, the rest was repeated case of how effective EDMR is, which if you bought the book, I would not think you need convincing. There is no question as to the value of EDMR, but I'm not sure it needed repeating so often.

Interesting stories
An easily digestible tale of many clients treated with EMDR. Not a training manual but gives a broad perspective through differing case studies. Author goes into detail about the traumas each client endured (CSA, SA, abuse, combat) and as such this book may be triggering for some.

Helpful for service users and clinicians
The real life examples that cover type I and type II traumas as well as general mental health issues are most illuminating. Compassionately presented and clearly explained. A useful reference for any would be EMDR user.

Good sales pitch for EMDR
This book reads very much like a sales pitch. You cannot do it for yourself you have to use their therapists. The author writes in a slightly pompous and self-congratulatory manner which I found irritating. Her long-winded description of trauma during case studies was unnecessary and often pointless. She referred to herself in the third person by her initials (properly weird). I'm sure EMDR helps some people but this book did not help me.
