Summary

Un estudiante está en su habitación abatido, reflexionando sobre lo sólo que le ha dejado su amada Leonora que se ha marchado para no volver. Llama a alguien a la puerta,... el no abre, pasa un tiempo y vuelven a llamar...finalmente abre y no ve nada más que la negrura de la noche, ese símbolo de la soledad infinita en la que Leonora le ha dejado; pero por la puerta entra volando un cuervo y la mente del joven narrador inmediatamente es infundida por su simbología de muerte y maldad. El cuervo se posa sobre el busto esculpido de Palas Atenea, pero además el cuervo puede hablar y a las preguntas del joven siempre responde lo mismo "nunca más" El joven, bajo la influencia del nepente, una droga alucinógena, pregunta en repetidas ocasiones a imaginarios querubines que invaden la habitación y al cuervo si volverá a ver a su amada Leonora en lejanos paraísos. El cuervo siempre responde "nunca más"
