El Gato Negro este corto pero terrorífico relato , quizás sea de los que mejor expresa las atormentadas batallas que tenían lugar en la mente de Edgar Allan Poe. El papel todo lo soporta y en toda obra se puede encontrar una u otra simbología. Para mí el gato negro que tanto atormenta al protagonista, no es otra cosa que la idea del mal, que constantemente se encuentra en tránsito del subconsciente al consciente y que o bien se tiene una gran fortaleza de voluntad o acaba obligándonos a hacer cosas que pueden ser terribles. En esta obra se produce una antítesis completa entre la sensibilidad manifestada por el protagonista y la brutalidad y horror de sus actos, que se pretenden justificar por la posesión demoníaca que el Gato Negro hace del protagonista.Este clásico relato de terror merece ser escuchado con atención y en silencio, porque joyas con este brillo no nos iluminan a menudo.
