Summary

Our vessel may have cracks and dings, tatters in its sail, and sometimes takes on water...but it still cuts through the waves with authority. Because of its crew - bonded for life. Unsinkable. Will this be our final voyage...or just the beginning of a new chapter in our lives? Endure is best heard following Emerge, Embrace, Entangled(novella), and Entice of the Evolve Series. There is also a companion novella, Baby Mama Drama, that contains events preceding those found in Endure. Mature audiences only.

A story with great heart and humour

This story had great humour and heart all the way through it. Really well read and performed so that the characters were even more loveable.

Good Read and Listen

I was a little lost at first still thing there could be special Bennett and Zack there story isn't finished, there is a big jump in time and the next generation ad a squad which I think is just like the Crew. Didn't want this book to finish as there's no more now so a little gutted.

The stereotypes soured the good parts...

I listened and mostly enjoyed the other books in this series. There were parts where they were just a little too saccharine for me but I know that's a personal taste thing, not to mention par for the course with many romance novels. This last book though...

Let's start with the good bits.
- All the gang is here. Whoop! Whoop!
- Meeting the next generation. And they are a riot!
- Seeing how things develop in the 'missing' love story and learning why it took so long to resolve
- All the sexy times... steam!
- Male Narrator's voice, though I did chuckle at his female impersonation during sex scenes. I must confess, there are loads of narrator's listed. I could only really detect one... sorry...

So all this is going on and I was happily enjoying the story line and really looking forward to seeing everyone in a whole new setting.... and then they get to Jamaica.

Don't get me wrong, I was born and raised in the Caribbean to the ripe 'old' age of 26 when I moved to the UK and I've been here for over a decade now. So I've seen life in both the 'developed' and 'developing' worlds and the way S.E. Hall represents Jamaica and Jamaicans in this book comes across as if she's saying "Lovely island, shame about the natives".

I kept waiting to see at least one Jamaican / island based character represented in a positive light. I've finished the book. I'm still waiting. For example:
- The cabbie is a stereotypical pot-smoker and crazy driver.
- The hotel housekeeper is a loose woman apparently looking to latch on to the first ride off the island to the USA (even at the cost of public indecency).
- Even the hotel Events Coordinator is portrayed as a waste of space that they wasted money paying for.

While I'm fully aware that Caribbean people have their flaws, this portrayal was hard to stomach, and I'm not even Jamaican! So my advice to S.E. Hall is the next time she takes her characters off to a place she doesn't know, please do more research. Talk to people from that location. All sorts of people from different walks of life so you can work with more than the stereotypes when setting the scene.
