Inspecteur Thorne de hoofdpersoon uit Mark Billinghams boeken ontdekt dat de moeder van het slachtoffer vijftien jaar geleden ook door moord om het leven is gekomen. Ze was een van de slachtoffers van seriemoordenaar Raymond Garvey. Er vallen meer slachtoffers, en elk lijk heeft een fragment van de röntgenfoto in de hand.
