Relaxing and enjoyable

This book is about much more than sailing. I bought it because I love sailing and I ended up really loving the descriptions of countries and islands visited. You feel like you’re along with Julie and Glen and I felt I could almost join them for a drink in the cockpit. I highly recommend this for a relaxing listen.

Overall a good book, very insightful and engaging.

I'm not a sailor so I really hoped this book wouldn't be technical and it wasn't, it's basically the author's journals - observations, thoughts, feelings, opinions, etc, - which was good. I really enjoyed this book, it takes you to places far away that you mostly wouldn't know existed. Julie Bradley clearly writes as she speaks so there was a very personal element to the language and terms. From her writings she sounds a genuinely nice person and I can imagine the many friends they made over their travels.
However, for me personally, the first chapter recalling the author's military career weren't necessary, I didn't find it relevant or interesting and I feel it added nothing to the book overall. It could have been summarised in one page I kept thinking there would be a relevance or connection but there wasn't.
I loved the sailing, discovery and adventure aspects of the book and was captivated by the descriptions of the global sailing world and all who lived in it, I also learned a bit of global trivia, places to avoid and some boat etiquette.
I immediately went onto listen to the sequel as a result of this book. I would recommend.

Good e listen

At times the story catches you out with some unexpected twists in where you expect it to go.
A book you can listen e to while you do some Gardening, Cooking, or even while out dog 🐕 walking.
Unlike Simon Scarrow, and other fast interesting semi-final attention grabbing 📚.

Not the best of accents

Not the best of accents for this story, would have preferred an easier listening option.

Disappointing

The storyline is thin and the narration is irritatingly poor. Could not be bothered to finish listening so marked it as finished as I’ve had enough!
