Ghost in the Machine

Perfectly narrated intense tale of when system relationships fail, be they man to man, man to woman or man to machine. Set in the 1990s before Hong Kong went back to China, it emphasises how difficulties of personalities, of technology, politics, geographic distances are lost in translation causing chaos.

Attention to detail, jargon, the danger and processes required to deliver the end solution being woven into the story made you feel the tension of a time critical mission, Also enjoyed the the MC's aim and goal and his dogged pursuit of the awful truth. How women were referred to and treated, even by "liberated" men ie they are judged on looks before brains is illuminating.

ENJOYABLE TALE

My first step into the world of engineering...

My partner was involved with control systems and I had heard him talk of swooping out parts; this story helped me understand the why and process better. Admittedly I had to listen to a couple of the chapters twice to fully understand the technology.

A good and fast paced plot, credible characters and interesting descriptions about the various
locations.

gripping story, great engineering insight

great story line, with added bonus of insight into the challenges of major projects commissioning, with some realistic characters in key roles.
