enjoyed it
I enjoy romantic suspense and the plot was great. the second half was dramatic and gripping, i loved it. I'm not a religious person, so don't care for any of the church stuff, feels unnecessary to the story but i suppose I'm not the intended audience !? either way there wasn't *too* much church stuff and I was able to listen to the whole book still. I wasn't sold on the judge character as much as the FMC in other books. she didn't annoy me or anything, though. maybe it's the Christian thing, but considering there is always a slow burn, there was a lack of chemistry. I wanted more flirting/steam. the characters are never overcome with passion in this authors books. I'm not suggesting they need to be steamy, I just wish there was more tension between them or something. they always have so much self control in this area. that's the main reason I got rid of the star. I thought the narrator was good.

Learning Lessons
The deathly slow narration is like books for students learning English/American. Sped it up to 1.2 for normal speech. The MCs are older unattractive stereotypes in their trope roles. For MCs who mention "church" regularly, turning the other cheek is not an option even for dramatic interaction, they want revenge. The judge wants to prevent her sister's "lawful" husband from arranging and attending the funeral; judges can't chose which laws they uphold. The book is slow, the MCs dull in thought and deed, staying in their lanes. Good sense does not prevail and certain people are just off limits and you can save alot of grief by remembering that. Older/wiser etc.
Gave up with 7 hours to go as I disliked the MCs so much and had no interest in getting to the end.
