About this listen

The truth will set you free...except when it doesn't...

Private investigator Sebastian Clifford and his partner Birdie step into the world of celebrity when a star of children's TV turns to them for help. She's being blackmailed by someone who knows about her murky past, and she's desperate to keep it hidden. But silence comes at a price, and it's one she can't afford to pay.

Clifford, who knows better than anyone what it's like to be punished for one mistake, agrees to help. As they dig deeper, they discover that everyone has secrets, and some are dark enough to kill for. Can they find the blackmailer before it's too late and save the reputation—and the life—of a beloved star?

Fear the Truth is book five in the bestselling Detective Sebastian Clifford thriller series and is a perfect blend of mystery, mayhem, and danger.

This Series just gets better & better ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I love all of Sally Rigby's different series of books, but this one just might be my favourite. The ever growing friendship and gentle teasing between Seb & Birdie, is beautifully written, as are all the twists & turns of their cases.
Wonderful writing and the incomparable narration of Jonathan Keeble, make these books pure joy to listen to.

A great listen

Another great story and outstanding narration by Mr Keebles as always. I’d listen to anything narrated by him.

Will they actually get paid this time?

As Clifford and Birdie attempt to help a well-known celebrity, they are taken into the corrupt world of blackmail. The celebrity in question has far more to hide than they first realise, and as the tale unfolds, the two detectives have to navigate their way around a group of people who hold a big grudge.

It's an easy book to listen to, but I zoned out occasionally; it's not as gripping as Books 1 - 3.

How quick I brought the series!

I can't say I disliked anything about this series. It has everything I needed to help me recuperate after a very nasty crisis of my chronic illness. Jonathan Keeble isjas has the most calming, then emotional and then picturesque voice, that just brings every single character to life. My memory is always quite badly effected during during crisis times, and I normally have to write down character lists. Not once with Johnathon. The storylines are easy enough to to follow with just enough small details and twists to keep the brain cells active to say the least! A real "page turner", very addictive and unfortunately I only have one more book to go. If you are fans of crime thrillers and have done (&continue) with your journeys with the well known Patterson, Nesbo etc but need a lighter but just as enjoyable challenge (similar to DI Dalglish) then follow this author. Sally Rigsby will not disappoint you at all. There I believe I have given both the author and narrator full 5 stars without 1 giveaway. Happy lighter reading, that still takes you away on an extremely enjoyable adventure. Oh another thing although there is always a quick (up until now...) part included in all the books, it's always short, concise and fully informative.

Another enjoyable caper.

Another very entertaining book in the series. Sometimes it’s nice to listen/ read a more cosier crime book although I do enjoy the more graphic ones too! The narrator as usual was great.

love how the main character is not the usual drunken, troubled, and messed up character

thoroughly enjoyingthe Sebastian and Birdie duo, the refreshing change of not having the love interest together and also Sebastian, nor Birdie, have mental health and addiction problems which I have often found very refreshing, and it makes it more enjoyable
