Summary

In this newly updated and repackaged follow-up to Fit For Life, one of the best-selling diet books of all time, nutritional specialist Harvey Diamond teaches listeners how to live a long, healthful life by making smart dietary changes, adopting a clean diet, and offering a blueprint for optimal health, pain-free living, increased energy and weight loss without deprivation.

Did you know that on average each one of us will consume approximately 70 tons of food in our lifetime? The amount of time, effort, and energy necessary to obtain, prepare, and consume all that food, plus the effort of your body to break it down, extract, and utilize what you need from it, and eliminate the rest, represents a hugely significant portion of your time on this planet. This book demystifies and simplifies the entire subject, while empowering you to know that you and you alone are in control of whether you live your life in good or ill health.

Through intelligent dietetic decisions, you can harness the powerful healing energy of food. Step-by-step, in simple, understandable language, listeners learn what pain, ill health, and disease really are, how and why they occur, and how they can be avoided. The book explains all you need to know about the single most important ally you have: your body's lymph system, the heart and soul of the immune system and the mechanism in your body whose explicit job and function is to keep you well. The secret to long-term, vibrant health lies in the understanding of the lymph system and what steps you can take to support its activities, not thwart them.

This ultimate diet and health plan is a comprehensive, cutting-edge program to reduce weight, lower cholesterol, combat serious diseases, and maintain vitality. More than a review of diseases such as cancer or how to manage them, this important book makes the strategic transition from treatment to prevention. People are increasingly taking responsibility for decisions concerning their health. Fit for Life: A New Beginning empowers the individual to make health-care decisions that are based on personal research; indeed, it accelerates this process. While it does discuss diagnosis and treatment, its real message is that you can prevent disease.

This is a pamphlet of information made to sound like a book

Harvey uses every trick possible to pad out a book that actually is a pamphlet about food combining and using fasting and fruit only cleanses. You can google the information contained in this book without all the unnecessary verbiage. Having bought it, I use his voice to lull me off to sleep. Seriously don't get this an audio. I can only imagine the physical book has all the information you need at the back without ploughing through the unnecessary diatribe.

Skip the first 10 chapters

You know when you see something that’s going to change your life. It says ‘I can tell you in 5 minutes how to achieve….,.’ However you have to read paragraphs of why you should read it before you get to the point. This book is the same. This book could be scaled down to two chanters and tell you what you needed to know.

Sensational unscientific “believe me” guru book

Advice based on “believe me” language not scientific evidence supported by research references. Another health guru book.

Way way way behind on the latest up to date research .

Some interesting stuff on the lymphatic system . But then you get a long drawn out part on cholesterol and saturated fat causing heart disease which has been debunked too many times- the big fat surprise, sacred cow, cholesterol myth, eat fat get thin and grain brain. Pushing a vegetarian lifestyle. Meat causing illnesses blah blah blah - I made it to the part about ASICS being the best for running trainers - as a runner who has been running for over ten years ASICS are not trainers I would ever buy . That’s when I stopped listening, with 4hrs left to go. Plenty of better books to listen to.

Charlatan salesperson in disguise

I picked up this book inspired by Jesse Itzler's recommendation in his own books. I finished the whole book but felt I was being tortured towards the end. Good things first - the book does give some food for thought and encourage one to rethink the conventional lifestyle and medical system. But... The author is a god devotee without any scientific background that goes against "the system" (political, medical, business, etc.) in all parts of his life. Sadly, he relies on some random individual cases to disprove scientific evidence. His typical argument goes like: "They have been treating X illness in a certain way for 30 years. But I know a woman..." Initially I gave the author the benefit of a doubt as he openly acknowledge his lack of academic credentials. But then he started pitching specific products throughout the book in infomercial style with toll-free numbers, etc. In the end, he was advocating taking some random enzyme pills pretty much before every meal. So even though there were some good nuggets in the book, the overall style was repulsive and I had zero trust in the author.

Dont waste your time and credit

Narration was good, but I felt like I was listening to a fantasy book, most of it was totaly incorrect and outdated.

Avoid

Heavy on fluff, light on actionable insights. Wasted a credit on this one and wasn’t impressed.
