Summary
First rule of being a nanny? Don’t fall for the single dad, even if he is smoking hot.
But that’s exactly what happens when grumpy small-town sheriff Asher Whitlock reluctantly hires me to take care of his daughter for the summer. Neither of us is thrilled with the arrangement, but he’s desperate for help, and I need the money for grad school this fall.
All we need to do is keep our distance and remain professional. Turns out, that’s easier said than done.
Instead of focusing on my future, all I see is the strong jawline, crystal-blue eyes, and rock-hard body right in front of me. We try to resist each other, but we end up crossing every line until I’m in his bed.
I tell myself it’s just this once.
Okay, twice.
All right, every night.
But it’s got to end–he’s 14 years older than me, with a kid and a stressful job. Have I mentioned my dad is his boss? Then, there’s the past I’m trying to forget. Secrets aren’t easy to keep, and mine are getting too big to hide.
Walking away is never simple, but when I do, I can’t look back.
Even if it means leaving behind the man I was never meant to love.

Really enjoyed it
I really loved the characters - it was a good story with a few twists and turns but not crazy drama. Ash is the loveliest book boyfriend and Phoebe is a sweetheart.

great story, amazing narration
A lot of tropes in this story- grumpy sunshine, age gap, forbidden romance (Phoebe's father is Asher's boss) and forced proximity (when Phoebe becomes Asher's nanny). But it works, probably because the characters are overall so likable, including the other people in the series who I hope to hear more about in the near future. Throw in a fair bit of humor, fun steamy situations, an adorable child (love the inclusion of sign language and also a well balanced "lesson" to readers about how important it is not to judge people when you don't know them) a fantastic reading by Zachary Webber and Desiree Ketchum (I would listen to ZW read anything!!) and I just had so much fun with this audiobook. I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Amazing
I love, love, loved this story. There are so many amazing tropes in this book, age gap, grumpy/sunshine, forbidden romance, forced proximity, small town, but it all worked so well. Asher is just the absolute sweetest once we get past his grumpy exterior, and I just love Phoebe. She was such an amazing character.
The book was sweet and funny, and once Asher and Phoebe got together, it was extra spicy 🥵.
the narrators were fantastic and really brought the story to life.
I can't wait for more books in this series 💙

Such a heartwarming story!
What a heartwarming and touching story! I enjoyed every second of listening to this audiobook. It put me in the best of moods and kept me smiling throughout. Phoebe and Asher may have started as enemies to lovers, and honestly, it's hilarious how that started. But it ended with me totally in love with Asher. He is end goals and how every single man should strive to be. If you are looking for a fun, enjoyable, light-hearted listen, you have just found your next listen! As always, Zachary Webber and Desiree Ketchum stole the show and made me fall in love with these characters. I am so excited to see the rest of the Whitlock family fall in love! Amazing start to this family series!

Corinne Michaels does it again!!!
What a audiobook, I loved every single chapter, character and narration.
This is Asher & Phoebes story and it starts with a bang.
Asher is a single dad who's daughter is deaf, the whole family learn to sign as soon as they find out the little girl is deaf. I've loved people being deaf brought into the story, all three books in the story mention this and its refreshing to hear the trials for deaf children and their families, its handled very well indeed, but does show the tribulations with the world outside.
Phoebe is the new nanny and although she can sign she has never been a nanny before much to Ashers distrust, however Phoebe is spectacular with his daughter which he sees straight away, Both can't keep their distance (oh yes) although they try!! its a great age gap story where Asher is 14 years older than Phoebe, he's the town Sheriff......need I say more!!
I will re listen to this story as it has all the feel good factors its especially hot as hell.
The narration is superb, I mean you can't go wrong listening to Zachary Webber and Desiree Ketchum they make the best music together every single time.
Loved this story so much, these are the first books i've listened to by this author and it won't be my last, I'm already looking into her back log catalogue, as once you start these stories you need so much more.
Get it you will not regret it, I purchased this audiobook with a purchased credit and I'd do it again!!
Just jealous that you my dear friends get to start it for the fist time, your in for a treat xx

LOVED IT!
Can you believe that this is my very first Corinne story I’ve read…yes, I’m still in shock too! Well at least I have a huge back catalogue to catch up on.
I went into Forbidden Hearts totally blind, I didn’t even read the synopsis. So you can imagine my surprise when I soon established it was
🔔Small town….ding!
🔔Age Gap…ding!
🔔Feisty Nanny…ding!
🔔🔔🔔Hot Single dad who is also a Cop…DING DONG, we have a winner!
Phoebe, a 24 year old college graduate studying Audiology, is unexpectedly back in her hometown of Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania, after a not so happy incident that happened at college. Daughter of the Chief of the Police, she soon has to find a good excuse as to why she’s having to transfer to another college to finish her course. In the mean time, she needs to find some work and her dad has the answer.
Asher Whitlock, local cop, co-parent/single dad to Olivia is in desperate need for a nanny who specialises in ASL to help look after his daughter Olivia, while Sara (Olivia’s mum) is working overseas for 5 ish months. After the original nanny booked is unavailable, his boss, the Chief of Police suggests Phoebe! Asher is horrified as the last time that Phoebe babysat his daughter, it ended in disaster. However, the dude is desperate, so Phoebe is has to be!
What follows is plenty of witty, fiery banter between our couple. Great chemistry, heartwarming and very passionate moments too 🥵🥵
The narration by Zachary and Desiree was chef’s kiss! What also surprised me with this story was how it effected me on a personal note. For someone that now deals with hearing loss, who struggles at times hearing certain tones of voices, knows all about audiology hearing tests, and now has to try to read peoples lips, I thought the representation of Olivia was dealt with exceptionally well, so big thumbs up to Corinne. I also wasn’t expecting those OMG 😱
moments either!
I would highly recommend this book. Fabulous, engaging writing and I can’t wait for the remainder of the series!

so good
Yes yes yes! I'm loving single dad/nanny romances atm and this one was wonderful!
Asher and Phoebe had such good chemistry and I loved the enemies to lovers vibe at the start. Phoebe was a great character. She was strong and driven and stood up for herself and the ones she loves. I really liked how much she cared for and connected with Ashers daughter. They had such a great bond. Loved the whole storyline and how it all came together at the end. I had to pick up jaw up off the floor at one point I just didnt see it coming. I cant wait for more from this series.
I listened to the audio and omg it was brilliant. Such great casting for the characters. I couldnt stop listening, it kept me up till the early hours of the morning I was unwilling to put it down. My fav Corinne book so far.

5 stars
I had a smile on my face the whole time listening to this. I really loved the story and am glad to pick this one up to read. Cute banter and Asher is a cute single dad, Phoebe just matched him. Phoebe who knows ASL, who has left college early and Asher a Swat leader (works for Phoebes dad) needs a nanny last minute and only wants a Nanny for his 9 yr daughter Olivia.
They knew of each other previously but havent seen each other in 6 years. Asher's cordiale relationship with Olivia's mom was different too in a good way. All the characters were great and Corinne does well adding in some tough subjects. Fast paced beginning to end.
Narrated by: Zachary Webber, Desiree Ketchum were perfect!
