About this listen
The beginning of life awaits at the end of the solar system. A frozen answer at the edge of planetary space.
Set to embark on NASA's first expedition to the outer planets, the crew of the spacecraft Magellan learns someone else has beaten them by a few decades: a top-secret Soviet project codenamed Arkangel.
Now during their long race to the Kuiper Belt, astronauts Jack Templeton and Traci Keene must unwind a decades-old mystery buried in the pages of a dead cosmonaut's journal. The solution will challenge their beliefs about the nature of humanity, and will force the astronauts to confront the question of existence itself. And the final answer lies at the edge of the Solar System, waiting to change everything.

Enjoyable space exploration
A well read space exploration story, quite philosophical towards the end, interesting and well rounded characters, a good listen for a long car journey.

American as hell
reasonably interesting story, found the constant ahistorical "communism bad" commentary really weird and jarring, especially given the subject matter. You can't really expect any better from an American author these days i suppose, but it is darkly funny hearing him proselytise about progaganda

Great hard science sci-fi
Great hard science sci-fi without losing sight of plot, pace and decent character development. Still accessible to all sci-fi fans.

Brilliant narrator, excellent story. Philosophical in nature. Thoroughly enjoyed the book, this is what SciFi should be.

Unbelievably dull
The narrator did his best to bring some life to what is, conceivably, the most boring tale about space which it has been my misfortune to encounter.
I kept listening expecting it to improve only to end up feeling as if I had endured an endless mind-numbing journey of my own.
On the plus side it did send me to sleep quickly, at bedtime. I simply had to go back a couple of chapters in the morning to confirm that almost nothing had happened.
