About this listen
Jeff Paxton came home from Afghanistan looking to put down roots. Instead his pregnant sister talks him into a job babysitting the volatile megastar Nigel Gasp. Nigel is stubborn, needy, and determined to be the center of attention everywhere he goes. Before long, Jeff realizes that something is bothering Gasp, and that keeping him out of trouble might be more difficult than he thought.
Nigel never planned on getting old. He simply assumed a hard drinking, hard partying lifestyle would take care of that. Now that he's turning 40, he's depressed and a little bit desperate. To Nigel, 40 seems like a fine age to deposit his DNA and check out while he's still on top.
The last thing Jeff needs is to fall in love with Nigel Gasp. The last thing Nigel expects is a whole new reason to live. But how can Jeff put down roots with a man who is never in the same place twice?

Excellent Narration!
What did you like most about Gasp!?
Without a doubt it was the excellent narration
Who was your favorite character and why?
Jeff, who was slightly flawed but was a good guy
Have you listened to any of Gomez Pugh’s other performances? How does this one compare?
This was my first time listening to Gomez Pugh
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There were a couple, particularly near the end, so I won't say which they were so as not to spoil it for anyone who hasn't listened to Gasp.
Any additional comments?
An enjoyable enough story, but doubt I would have enjoyed it as much if it wasn't for the excellent narration. Gomez Pugh really surprised me, especially with the variety of accents, especially the English one - which really surprised me as being English I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I would definitely recommend this book, if only for Gomez Pugh's narration

I didn't want
This book to end. I read it ages ago and didn't think listening to it would improve it any. But, I was so wrong! Gomez Pugh added a different life to the characters.

Amazing narration. Quirky story
What made the experience of listening to Gasp! the most enjoyable?
Oh, most deffinitely Gomez Pugh doing a British accent that sounded like Nigel Tuffnel from Spinal Tap. It was laugh out loud brilliant.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the troubled musician angle. Yes, it's been done a billion times before but Nigel Gasp has a few... kinks that are a little out of the ordinary and it was kinda wonderful.
What about Gomez Pugh’s performance did you like?
EVERYTHING. Gomez Pugh is a master for getting to the heart of a character and not only putting emotion into his narration, but comic timing and humour. He is one of my favourite narrators in any genre.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, at the end in the hospital.
Any additional comments?
Entertaining story made even better by the top class narration.

A rock god's romance
The e-book was great but it was Gomez Pugh who elevated this audio book to great.
As the title states it's a love story. Even rock stars like Nigel need 'the one'
The book has some funny crazy moments mixed in with the poignant.
A gentle romance with no over the top angst. Just two people like many of us who find it hard to trust that they might be worth loving.
