About this listen

A game. A husband and wife game. Gerald's Game. But this time Jesse didn't want to play.

Lying there, spread-eagled and handcuffed to the bedstead while he'd loomed and drooled over her, she'd felt angry and humiliated. So she'd kicked out hard. Aimed to hit him where it hurt. He wasn't meant to die, leaving Jesse alone and helpless in a lakeside holiday cabin.

Miles from anywhere. No one to hear her screams. Alone. Except for the voices in her head that had begun to chatter and argue and sneer....

Classic well written

a fascinating book, which delves into the mind of a person faced with their own mortality trapped handcuffed to a bed

the narration is performed superbly

my only complaint is in places it got a bit drawn out one of the reveals in the end was not needed, leave the audience wondering

a good book

I've only read this once before and now have listened to it once and it absolutely terrified me both times. I first read it years and years ago and it still features in nightmares occasionally. It's the book I have bought for many many friends. Don't judge it on the film, which is terrible, the book is terrifyingly brilliant.
Like everyone says the narration is good and the bizarre musical interruptions at really random points are really irritating

I absolutely LOVE this book

This is a great book and read brilliantly. the only gripe I have is with the weird sound effects played at seemingly random intervals.

Classic King

This is one of my favourite Stephen king books, its incredibly suspenseful. I loved the portrail of Jessie's character exploring all her conflicting feelings about past trauma and the state of denial that she was living in, while going through a terrible ordeal, its pretty heavy stuff. I was really rooting for her character and was hanging on every word.

Gripping, couldent stop listening

I wasn't sure why there was music playing at odd intervals throughout... It made me snaps out of the story but it was a good performance and awesome story

A good if not great book, some subject matter which might turn off some people (no pun intended) the narrator was very good, and added a star overall.

Those pesky handcuffs

So I'm a certified Stephen King junkie - I thought 11-22-63 was an awesome book, I enjoyed the weird but interesting books about the Man in Black, I loved the Stand, Green Mile, Pet Cemetary, Mercedes Killer etc. But this was a rather less fulfilling read with a very odd ending tacked on to an interesting idea. Well read; and it kept me going to the end: but make sure you read his great books first!

Not the best SK ever

A lab interesting story that is difficult to listen to in parts due to graphic accounts of child abuse and trauma. The problem is King writes so well, and thus one can picture the disturbing scenes.

Not for the feint-hearted

This story is on par with Misery. It is intense and hard to stop listening to. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. Lindsay Crouse does the narration perfectly.

Thanks to King for his brilliance and Crouch for bringing this book alive.
