About this listen

Murder and mystery on the Jersey Shore from the national best-selling author of Inspector Specter....

Never meet your heroes - especially when they're dead....

Guesthouse owner, single mother, and reluctant ghost whisperer Alison Kerby is about to sit down to movie night with her family and friends when she's struck speechless. Floating before her is the ghost of her musical idol, 1960s English rock star Vance McTiernan. He's in desperate need of help from Alison and her resident ghostly gumshoe, Paul Harrison.

Reports claim that four months ago, Vance's daughter died from a drug overdose. Vance, however, thinks she was murdered. While Alison agrees to help, Paul is suspicious of Vance's motives. But after the body of the alleged killer is found in the movie room, Alison and Paul must act quickly before someone else finds a stairway to heaven....

Just started this and am not sure I can carry on!
Amanda Ronconi is usually my all time favourite Audible narrator and can do no wrong, but her approximation of an English accent is nothing short of horrific. For a British listener, imagine nails down a blackboard but worse.
It sounds like a strange mix of Irish, Scottish and some kind of odd twang I'm not even sure exists in real life. I mean, c'mon, how hard is it to do a cockney or even a posh English accent? The book itself is great as the books in this series always are, but given I'm cringing every time the English character speaks I might have go skip this one and go onto the next.

'British' accent unbearable to listen to

the British accents were awful, i have no idea, where they were meant to be from. Her take on British people is a bit outdated, but not offensive. And I did listen to the end,

i have really enjoyed these stories, but!

Please, Amanda, don't ever attempt a British accent again. They were so appallingly bad, I almost gave up on the book.

Oh, the accents!

A teenager's musical crush shows up at the Beach House asking for help. Instead of turning him away Allison says yes and it is Paul who doesn't want to take the case.

Once again EJ Copperman has dotted every i and crossed every T in this well thought out whodunnit.

The story plot wasn't my favourite in the series so far but my goodness, every character is portrayed really well, every thread of the story is dealt with and the characters are so likeable.

Amanda Ronconi is BRILLIANT but the British accent in this one did ruin it a bit, I wasn't sure where Vance was actually from, Liverpool maybe or London?

I really admire how the author deals with the overlap of conversations between the living and the ghosts, it had me laughing out loud. Very clever writing.

EJ Copperman + Amanda Ronconi = perfection!

A well written whodunnit

Brilliant series of books. Love them. Cannot wait for the next. So much fun too.

I am loving this series following Alison, Melissa, Paul and Maxi. Amanda Ronconi is a really good narrator but she cannot do a British accent to save her life!
Still, it gave me a chuckle and it didn't spoil the story for me.

Good detective stories with a twist

The narrator unfortunately does not have the knack of delivering accents well, and this was irritating in parts.

Interesting plot

Enjoyed the whole story. The biggest flaw was the terrible English accent, which was one of the worst I have heard.

An Enjoyable Listen.
