Summary

In the Outer Islands, gods and magic rule the ocean.

Under the command of Captain Rafe Morrow, the crew of the Celestial Jewel ferry souls to the After World and defend the seas from monsters. Rafe has dedicated his life to protecting the lost, but the tides have shifted and times have changed.

His sister, the Goddess of the Moon, is on a rampage and her creatures are terrorizing the islands. The survival of the living and dead hinge on the courage and cunning of a beleaguered captain and his motley crew of men and ghosts.

What he doesn't know is that her threat is part of a larger game. That an ancient, black-winged malevolence is using them all as pawns....

Come set sail with ghosts, gods, and sea monsters.

Ghosts of the sea moon.

I received a free code for this from the author. I tried this book because it sounded rather interesting and I'm glad I did. This is an enthralling tale of siblings at war with each other. These are divinities and their struggles are reminiscent of classical mythology as they contain gods, goddesses, hidden locations where the gods live, magic and lots of sea monsters. An enjoyable adventure very nicely put together. The reasons that this did not get 5 stars were a sometimes stilted narration and at times jarring music which was painful to the ears for me. Others may well have no problem with it. I would have given it a 4.5 but the ratings system doesn't do half marks. An excellent, well put together book that draws you into the story and holds tightly on to you until the end.

Fickle Gods

I find myself torn between fantasy and tiresome real world reality. But great story nonetheless. Well narrated and well written. The endless bitter fighting amongst the gods and goddesses reminds me of rich spoiled brats who have had no discipline whatsoever...kind of like real-world issues we are experiencing right now.
